The Illinois Archives database provides listings of death certificates filed
with the Illinois Department of Public Health between 1916 and 1950. Because
the death index was created from the original (usually handwritten)
documents, it may contain spelling errors, incorrect data about the death,
and erroneous entries. The date of death may also be incorrect. For example,
some deaths occurring in 1936 were entered as 1935 deaths. If you are

Archives website for more information and/or for instructions to obtain a
copy of a death certificate.
